Hidamari Sketch Season 1 DVD R1 Episode 8~12 + OVA 1 & 2

DVD Menu Disc 2

Disc 2 contains episode 8 through 12 of season 1 + the 2 OVA specials. Special Features just has endless opening and ending. A reviewer at Rightstuf has informed people about the inconsistency of the visual track for this release: they used TV source instead of the retouched DVD version for some episodes. I was wondering why..

Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン) Blu-ray

I heard some great things about this BD release of Evangelion from Funimation so I decided to purchase it, even though I was hesitant at first since I already double dipped on this series years ago. I guess this is one of those landmark anime where you can't help but support. Here are the contents and specs:

Gake no Ue no Ponyo (崖の上のポニョ) Blu-Ray + DVD R1

Finally! I have been waiting for this.. my first Ghibli title on BD! It's a monumental day for me, as I'm sure it is for many Ghibli fans out there as well. I'm no BD techie but I will try to cover some information of this exciting release.

I'm sure there is no need for an introduction to any Ghibli title so let me jump to other information. This BD release of Ponyo also came with a DVD, and I will go into both for those who are curious. Without further ado:

Genshiken (げんしけん) R1 DVD Volume 3

This is the final volume of Genshiken R1 DVD from Anime Works/Media-Blasters. Here are the contents and specs:

Hidamari Sketch (ひだまりスケッチ) Season 1 DVD R1 Episode 1~7

I won't go into Special Features because it's just NeoADV trailers and credits. The cheap price is certainly worth it but I find it irritating that....

Hidamari Sketch (ひだまりスケッチ) Season 1 DVD R1 Set

This is the R1 release of Hidamari Sketch DVD season 1 set from Sentai Filmworks. It includes 12 regular season episodes + the 2 OVAs on 2 discs (7 episodes on each disc). Japanese audio 2.0 + English subtitle. 16:9. They certainly made this easy to write about. ^^; I personally prefer this type of release since...

Trailers include:

Honou no Alpen Rose (炎のアルペンローゼ) R2 DVD Set!

This R2 PAL DVD set of Alpen Rose (full title also known as Honou no Alpen Rose: Judy & Randy) came in today from Italy. Some of you are probably wondering "is it bootleg?" As far as I'm aware, no! I ordered this from Yamato Video which is an official Italian distributor who has the rights for Alpen Rose. The price was kind of high for this 20 episode series but I personally think it's worth it because this is an old-school 80's title and is one of my favorite Tastsunoko Production anime. So what is it about?

Handsome na Kanojo (ハンサムな彼女) OAV Impressions

So I felt like watching romance but something really short and obscure. I picked this early 90's anime because it's a single OAV and it's a romance anime based on the manga from the creator of Marmalade Boy. But I didn't have high expectation for it because...

Petopeto-san (ぺとぺとさん) Disc 1 + Extras Content + Episode 1

Let me show you the contents of the Extras DVD first. I'll also follow that up by episode impression.

The first volume includes the first episode. The contents (bleh, I use Dazzle which is a component video capture device, and I need a new laptop so the quality is not that good):

Petopeto-san DVD R2 Bargain!

First let me tell you a little about Petopeto-san. This was one of the series that I absolutely loved back in 2005. Looking back now, that year had tons of great anime like Kamichu, Ichigo Mashimaro, Honey and Clover, Kaleido Star, Mushishi, Eureka Seven, and my guilty pleasure...
